Family Support Programme
We value and respect the experience and views of family
members/significant others and include their involvement in our
treatment, where therapeutically relevant. With the client’s
permission, we invite family members/significant others to
participate in aspects of the client’s programme.
We are particularly interested, where appropriate, in involving
partners of clients in treatment because we have a strong belief
that though the individual’s treatment is important, it is equally
important to work positively with and support the relationship
milieu.
The Family Support Programme provides family members with:
- An understanding of the psychological, medical, and
spiritual aspects of the client’s recovery process;
- Meaningful ways of supporting their loved one through this difficult
time;
- Referral to resources available to them in their community.
- We also offer clients and their loved ones a forum to:
-
Learn positive communication skills
- address chronic issues and concerns with the
guidance of a professional counsellor
- create mutual understanding of each others’ needs
On completion of the Family Support Programme, clients and individual family
members have the foundation to rebuild their relationships with each other,
heal past wounds and create a new beginning for love and intimacy.
