Family Support Programs

We value and respect the experience and views of family members/significant others and include their involvement in our treatment, where therapeutically relevant. With the client’s permission, we are able to invite family members/significant others to participate in aspects of the client’s program.

We are particularly interested, where appropriate, in involving partners of clients in treatment because we have a strong belief that though the individual’s treatment is important, it is equally important to work positively with and support the relationship milieu.

Our Family Support Programs provides family members with:

  • an understanding of the psychological, medical, and spiritual aspects of the client’s recovery process;
  • meaningful ways of supporting their loved one through this difficult time;
  • referral to resources available to them in their community; and
    • a forum to learn positive communication skills; address chronic issues and concerns with the guidance of a professional mediator; and enhance mutual understanding of each others’ needs.

On completion of the Family Support Program, clients and individual family members have the foundation to rebuild their relationships with each other, heal past wounds and create a new beginning for love and intimacy.

Testimonials

“…. I went to the Sanctuary for my anxiety and depression and soon realised that I needed to quit drinking. What a thought! “Quit drinking?” But I’d drunk daily for over 30 years and never imagined that I had a drinking problem, or that alcohol was in any way related to my depression and anxiety. I have quit drinking now for 3 months and I’ve been practicing all that I was taught at The Sanctuary, including maintaining a regular exercise program - and I can’t believe how great I feel! Thank you.…..” MD 51 years old
